Diegetic and Non Diegetic Sound
Here we looked at the amount of non-diegetic and diegetic sound in a trailer with the amounts of shots that include this sound.
Get Out
In this trailer it used an unbalance of diegetic and non diegetic dialogue . It had 25 non diegetic shots and diegetic sound was 56. We found that this trailer used more diegetic dialogue compared to diegetic dialogue which represents the idea of the trailer needing to have more diegetic dialogue in a trailer as its more affective . In total this trailer has 143 shots and only 81 shots that had dialogue in it.
Clown
In this trailer the Clown has another mixture of diegetic dialogue and non diegetic dialogue. But this time it uses more non diegetic dialogue at 27 and diegetic had 16 in it. This trailer needs to have more diegetic dialogue in it as there is not a lot of balance with the trailers dialogue.
The Monster
In this trailer it uses 18 diegetic dialogue and 15 non diegetic dialogue. In this trailer for monster we have found there is more of a balance in the trailer with dialogue but there is more of diegetic dialogue throughout.
The Caretaker
In this trailer for The Caretaker we found that it had 19 diegetic sound and 8 non diegetic sound in the trailer. Which tells us there is more diegetic sound in the trailer than non diegetic sound throughout.
Emelie
In this trailer we found that there was 41 diegetic sound and 15 diegetic sound which also tells us that they have a lot of dialogue that is spoken rather than edited in. But you find throughout trailers that diegetic dialogue is more effective that non diegetic sound unless you are looking for jump scares for the trailer.

For our trailer we have decided to use mysterious music throughout the beginning that is relatively slow but begins to build up as it reaches the middle. This is so that we can present the setting and overall aesthetic of our trailer before introducing why this film is scary. To emphasise the fear we have decided to hit the drop of the middle part of the trailer by matching some fast paced music with some more brutal killing and panic shots. This was good because it allowed the audience to take in what the film will be all about but it wont give away what happens because of how panicked and random the shots play. We have also decided to use a jump scare which is a commonly used feature in horror films that get peoples hearts to race and want to see what happens next because of how sudden the fear sets in all in the space of one short shot. To do this we have added one large bang noise just as the killer appears behind a door that slams shut.
