Wes Craven
Wes Craven is known for his bold ideas which challenge the audience and slasher movie sub-genre. He is known for films such as Scream franchise, Nightmare on Elm Street. Most of the films he produced related to nature of reality e.g. Nightmare on Elm Street dealt with consequences of dreams in real life. In Scream, he referred horror films to situations the characters were in. E.g. In the film Billy Loomis tells his girlfriend that life is just a big movie.
He was seen as the man who made all the night mares come true due to him creating such classic films that have forever changed horror today. But the three films we believe changed horror films forever are “Last House on the Left”, “The Hills have eyes” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. His films were seen to torture people in an unmerciful and game of death its self.
His work mainly used the safest and comforting places somewhere to fear so that you can never feel safe in these places again. It focuses on places you would never expect to be frightening such as your house located in a town. But also in some of his films he also looked at the counter balance of a strong female heroine which struck back with almost equal power to the killer.
