Slasher
Slasher Films are a sub-genre of horror films, typically involving a violent psychopath murdering several victims, usually with bladed tools. However the sub-genre is usually given to films that involve murder. Common aspects of the Slasher genre is not only the idea of a blade wielding psychopath but also the idea of the 'final girl' concept that was theorised by Carol Clover. We would like to go for the Slasher genre as our chosen idea is oriented in a similar way. Our idea, like a slasher, will include a psychopathic killer who will be taking people away to his lair and giving them Glasgow grins and stringing them up like puppets for his own sadistic pleasure.

Comedy Horror
Comedy horror's focus on the concept of making the film scary for their audience whilst implementing some more comical aspects. Typically these films are being made so that people laugh at what would usually be considered scary. There are many comedy horror films such as Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland and scary movie.

Supernatural
Supernatural films usually base their films off of ghostly figures and demons that haunt and cause harm to the people in the movie. This then often leads to them introducing religious connotations to portray some sort of sadistic possession is at work. Examples of films that work like this are Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project and The Exorcist.

Zombie
Zombie horror films are movies that are based off of the idea that undead beings are rising from the dead into a rabid and bloodthirsty state. Zombies are usually made in films due to an infectious virus or religious prophesy and are known to walk around killing any living being on earth. Examples of zombie horror's are Resident Evil, 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead.

Teen
Teen horror's are films that always involve a group of young teenagers who end up involved in a stereotypical teenage event such as a party or sleepover at a rather desolate location. The story then twists to a more fast paced thrill as the teenagers are forced to run for their lives from a killer of some description. Examples of films with this genre are Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream.

Monster
Monster horror involves a film where people are being terrorised by a creature. This creature will usually work to kill each and every individual in the film until everyone is dead. However some films have been known to follow Carol Clovers theory of the final girl. Examples of films like this are Alien, The Thing and Cloverfield.
